The city of Estherna is awake and alive this night, as its citizens prepare for the mystical wonder of the Midnight Sun. Indeed, the streets of Amethia's biggest city are packed with tourists and villagers from all over, here to experience one of Amethia's biggest festivals. Merchants have opened up stands selling merchandise and restaurants have done the same to sell food for all the moon-watchers. Couples are meeting on cliffs, towers, and rooftops to get a view of the moon. On the flat roof of the city hall, two skilled swordsmen wait for the moon to glow so they can begin 'The Battle under the Midnight Sun'. Dancers and Minstrels are scattered through the town, filling the air with laughter and song. The night is still young, however... What else will occur during this festival?

The city of Etherna was lively tonight, well, more than it usually was. The festival was filled with lights and music, people gathered at shops while others watched as Mistrals and dancers played. Amongst it all, Kaz is seen standing on the highest pole in the area, doing his own little dance at the top of it. "Whee!" Kaz shouted in excitement as he dances around like a fool on the pole.
Others were seen looking up at Kaz. "What is that idiot doing up there?" one commented and "He must be drunk..." commented another. However, amongst all the people, one girl knew the truth about Kaz. Trina was seen in the crowd, wearing a baby blue, flower themed kimono. She shook her head a bit, her long, black hair fixed up in two pigtails on the sides of her head. She took a deep breath and yelled. "KAZ! Get down here! You are embarassing me!"
Kaz, of course, wasn't paying attention to a word that Trina had to say. He was having fun dancing up on the pole like he is. However, an apple was hurled at him, striking Kaz in the back of the head. Kaz lost balance and fell because of this. Kaz landed smoothly on his hands ond feet like a cat would. Kaz glanced back to see who it was that knocked him off his perch. "What th- Oh, you did end up making it on time, didn't you?" Kaz asked with a smile.
Trina turned he head a bit to see who it was that Kaz was talking to. As she saw the person with the corner of her eye, she.quickly turned away, clasping her hands together and blushing.
The one that stepped forward was none other than Kankuro, with his arms slipped around his chest. "Of course." Kankuro replied, "I wouldn't miss this for anything." Kankuro glanced over, seeing Trina standing beside of him. "Sorry to keep you all waiting."
Trina blinked a bit and nodded at Kankuro "N-no, it's alright.... we haven't been waiting very long." Trina glanced over at Kaz. "I was too busy trying to get this monkey off the pole."
Kaz smiled a bit and glanced over at Kankuro. "So, you gonna take part of the 'Battle Under the Midnight Sun'?"
Trina glanced at Kankuro, seeing him nod. "Yeah, I've been wanting to take part of this event for a while now... but, now, I actually have the time to do so." Hearing Kankuro say this, Trina frowned a bit.

Kai heard the shouts and the laughter of the children running about outside of the tavern room she was resting in. She frowned a bit. Even though almost all of Melodia was going to celebrate for the festival, she didn't want to be stuck in the middle of it. It wasn't the fact that it was a social thing, but rather that the festival reminded her of the home and the family she used to have. She didn't know who she was, and they didn't know either, but they took her in anyway. Now, 50 years later, the sting of seeing them suddenly vanish was still present in her heart. She closed her eyes and sighed, finally walking down the stairs and out the door, towards the festivities.
Now is not the time to be falling back to the past, she told herself.
Mira was sitting on the rooftop of another building nearby, her eyes focused on the moon, and then down to the people in the street below. They were happy, full of energy and life. She stretched her wings a bit, then came floating down from the roof. If anyone was going to have fun here, it would be her, without a doubt.
Mordicus was waltzing in and out of the crowd, bored out of his mind. Though he knew the actual festivities would be starting soon, there wouldn't be much of anything to do until then. He sighed, annoyed, and kicked a few stones on the dirt road. Man, is there anything here that could be called entertaining? He wondered. Just then his eyes caught the sight of a red-haired Winged landing on her feet from the rooftop above her. She looked strong, young, and most importantly, gorgeous. He made his way through the crowd of people and then slid up next to her.
"Hey there, Gorgeous. Wanna have a little fun tonight?"
Sharkov leaned against a nearby wall, somewhat panting for air. The amount of people waiting and preparing for the celebration was almost suffocating. He dared not to go into the large swarming mass, telling himself that he might get stepped on in the process if he joined. He hung back, closing his eyes, his tail swishing back and forth. He hoped he hadn't made a mistake in deciding to come out to the festivities tonight.

Jay was frantically preparing and passing drinks to customers, trying to accomplish this without screwing up an order or dropping any of the ingredients he was holding. He had been walking with Aura, when they decided to stop by a tavern to get a drink, and found a huge mob of angry customers and a distraught bartender who was having panic attacks and seemed incapable of dealing with the huge crowd. So, his bartending instincts kicking in, Jay ended up helping out the poor man, and was now stuck serving excited and lively customers.
"Aaah... Aura, can you pass me some me that bottle of liquid sugar?" he called over the noise. "I've run out!"
Persha, meanwhile, was browsing the different stalls set up my merchants. She had already purchased a posh and very expensive fur coat and a lovely crescent-shaped hairpin, and was wearing both. It was amazing the kind of discounts you could get when most of the merchants were men and when she was... well, Persha.
"Hey there, Gorgeous. Wanna have a little fun tonight?" She heard someone call, not too far away from her. Persha swung around, assuming that whoever was asking was asking her, but was disappointed to see a very attractive man calling up to some other girl up on the rooftops.
'Oh well,' she figured. 'Just one stroll by him and he'll forget all about any other girl he's ever met.' With a confident (almost smug) smirk, Persha strolled right in front of his eyes and continued walking, waiting to see if he would call out to her... Why wouldn't he? She was the most attractive girl in all of Estherna, tonight. Even the moon's beauty paled in comparison to her.

Mira heard a voice call up to her, and she looked down to see a handsome young man looking back up at her, smiling. She smiled back, spread her wings and began to slowly glide down to him
Mordicus smiled, hoping both his charm and his looks would convince the Winged to come down. When he saw her smile, he raised his hand as if to offer assistance, and moved forward. Unfortunately, he wasn't looking to see who was in front of him. The next thing he knew, he had bumped into a young woman and stepped on her shoes.
"Sorry sweetheart, wasn't seeing-" He paused. The girl was quite beautiful for her age. "Well, what do we have here?" He said, chuckling to himself and stroking his chin. By now, Mira had landed and was approaching Moridcus. She saw him look at Persha and she felt a twinge of anger, but she let it slide. Tonight was about the festivities, not about who could get more men. Even though she knew she could definitely get more men than Persha.
Mordicus looked between the two girls and smiled cockily. Stretching his arms behind his back, he laughed a little. "Looks like I hit the jackpot with you two ladies, eh?"

A sharp shrill of damaged notes sounded through the air as a young neptunite experimented with a panflute she had just bought. She sat atop a carnival cart, not paying attention to the shopkeeper who was glaring murderously at her. The shopkeeper advanced, with a club raised behind his head. Right as h swing, Theo groaned and ducked down to pick up the panflute she just dropped. The shopkeeper's momentum made him spin a circle, causing him to accidentally club himself in the face instead. Theo noticed nothing of course, and continued blowing harsh shrills into the wodden instrument.
Nearby, Amaranth silently whinnied in pain. She covered her ears, wincing at the sharp jabs of sound that were hurting her ears. She looked for the source and saw a boy....a girl? Was it a girl? In any case, she saw a youth tampering with an instrument she....he....they clearly shouldn't be allowed to handle. Amaranth calmly trotted over over to Theo and smiled gently. Theo returned the smile...and then gasped in horror as the mean mean Horsey took away her toy and ran off with it.
Theo whipped out her slingshot and began pelting Amaranth with tiny, but sharp, ice crystals. "THEIF!" she cried at the top of her lungs. "THEIF! THEIF! SOMEONE STOP THE HORSEY THEIF!" Theo dashed after Amaranth, crashing into Mordicus and his dates. She dusted herself off very quickly before a word could be said and continue in hot pursuit of the mute centaur.
Amaranth gulped. The things she did for the sake of music...

(Err... Trina isn't wearing a kimono... she's wearing a silver-black dress. ^.^ Kimonos don't exist in MoM. XD)
Kaz managed to slip away from the likes of Trina and Kankuro. Kankuro was too busy psyching himself up and Trina was too enveloped in her dream of getting alone time with Kankuro... something that probably will never come. Kaz couldn't comprehend Trina's thinking but, well, it wasn't like he was trying to think like here to begin with. He was about to run off to look for something more fun to do when he noticed a girl, a winged-girl, and a man. He wouldn't have bothered noticing much of the group.... except for that girl with the wings. She had wings! Kaz crept his way towards the group, using his small, agile like body to go unnoticed by the group. He almost giggled, as close as he was to the winged and her not even noticing. He smoothly slipped his arms around the winged girl, one of the claws of his hand extended and pointed at her neck. "Hi there, my name is Kaz!" Kaz said brightly, despite the situation he caused. "Will you be my frie-"
Kankuro had quietly followed Kaz this whole time and he marked his presence by slamming his elbow into the face of Kaz. "Aren't you wanting friends... or captives, idiot?!" Kankuro yelled as he sent Kaz back flipping and crashing into the wall with his back. Kankuro then placed his hand on his forehead, ashamed of his fellow mercernary's actions. "Sorry about that, miss. Kaz is still a young boy... more to learn from trial and error, no?" Kankuro told the winged, too embarassed to look at her eyes.

Persha smirked and swung around as the man acknowledged her. When she turned around, though, she saw that the winged girl had now landed. What was she still doing here? Before the magus could open her mouth, she felt someone extremely large crash into her and force her down to the floor, followed by someone of extremely little weight stepping over her back and leaping off it. "What the --" The next thing she knew, the winged girl was being ... she couldn't tell if it was an attack, or just a very affectionate hug... from a demicat, who was then attacked by a mercenary.
All of this occurred too quickly for her, but as she got up, the first thing she noticed was the fresh layer of dirt on her new, expensive coat. The teen turned around, prepared to yell at the person who dared to crash into her, and saw a large centauress. And unfortunately, she was also female, which meant that unless she was into ladies, Persha wouldn't have much control over her. Readjusting her crescent hairpin, Persha rubbed her back.
"Okay, can someone tell me what the hell just happened?" she asked, clearly annoyed. Then, out of no where, she looped her arm around Mordicus's. "How about you, cutie?" Her tone of voice changed completely from one of annoyance to one of sweetness.

Kankuro turned his attention to the Demicat who sat up against the wall. He walks past everyone and grabs Kaz by the shoulders and lifts him up from the floor. "Hey, wake up! Why are you embarassing me in front of everyone? Sheesh, grow up, will ya?" Trina comes walking in, seeing Kankuro holding Kaz up by the shoulders and shaking him. "Kankuro, calm down..." Trina called out as she walked to Kankuro and jumped on his back, placing her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. This struggle has become a three person affair.

"YOU GUYS SHOULD BE PUT TO JAIL FOR LETTING A THIEF ESCAPE!" Theo bellowed angrily at the crowd of random, evil thief-lovers as she looked frmo behind. She slowed down and came to a halt. Fine then. She clicked her tongue in immense irritation and looked around for the centaur. Damn it, how in bloody blazes was it possible to lose track of a giant friggin' Horse Person? Theo's eyes widened as she saw Amaranth carefully trotting over the nearest alley way. "Bingo," Theo whispered, and was off on the hunt again.
Amaranth silently screamed. It felt just as good as screaming, and this way no one would hear her. For a change, her muteness was useful. She wa stil holding the dumb little panflute. She cocked an eyebrow at it, doubtful it could play something as beautiful as her violin. Well, it was worth a shot. If that snotty little musically-challenged Neptunite varmint was going to find her due tothe music, so be it. She could kick the gender-confused gir--bo---....person unconscious with one hoof and that'd be that. Amaranth had enough of this. She put the instrument to her lips and tested out the woodwind instrument, experimenting with its range and notes. Once she got a decent grasp of its function, Amaranth played a simple melody. A lullaby that many Minstrels would learn when they first began singing; a lullaby about a sun in a darkened sky.

"CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! CHUG!" Shouted a group of onlookers, surrounding someone who was standing on a table. The top of a head could be seen over the crowd...and the tips of two wings.
"YEAHHH!" Shouted the crowd again as Aura finally took the bottle of liquid sugar from her lips. She waved it around, showing off it's empty-ness.
"Pay up you drunkards!"She laughed, grabbing shiny coins that were being thown at her. She wobbled around for a bit, giggling and shaking because her blood had apparently been replaced with sugar. She finally got tired of standing up and plopped down into a nearby drunk's arms. He seemed quite pleased by this change of events.
"YOU KNOW WHO I LOVE?" Shouted Aura, giggling like crazy. "Well...besides my lucky buckle...I love you!" Her crowd of admirers sent up another cheer. "Yes...yes I do!" She slurred. "I love...you...and you, and you!" She laughed, twirling around the empty bottle she still held in one hand. She was considering making another bet, but then she heard Jay call out to her from over at the bar. She climbed out of the arms of the man holding her, immediately stumbling as her feet hit the floor.
"Oh, my friend...is calling me." She regained her balance and starting walking away, much to her fan club's disappointment, which was strange, since she had just robbed them of a good amount of coin.
"Jay!" She said, pleased that she had made it to the bar. "Oh, my Muse. You have...you can NEVER guess what I just did...I drank like, all this." She accentuated her point by banging the empty bottle of liquid sugar on the bar, and once again she fell into a spell of hysterical giggles.

Jaynus blanched at the now-empty bottle. There was no way a normal mortal could down THAT much sugar... but then, he reminded himself, it wasn't anyone, it was Aura. "Well," he sighed. "That basically cuts our menu in half." Jay glanced back at the actual bartender and saw him being yelled at by some rowdy customers. Turning back to Aura, he added, "Did you at least get a hefty sum? I figure that if this guy -" he jerked his thumb at the bartender, "- isn't paying me for practically running this place, we should be entitled to.. ah... help ourselves to some of his profit..."
Persha watched the centauress and Neptunite run off, before latching on to the cute guy she was flirting with previously. "Soooo... How about you and I go watch the moon together? I know a great spot... it's romantic, gives a great view, and there's enough room for just the two of us..."she emphasized her last words, glaring at Mira.
Meanwhile, a city official hurried through the crowd, looking for a certain mercenary. He arrived at the scene, and saw Kankuro wrestling with a young demicat, with Trina on top of him. Gasping, the official ran forward and pulled Kankuro off Kaz. "Mr. Kankuro, sir! Please! The Battle under the Midnight Sun will be commencing soon, as, according to our Maguses, the moon is beginning to exert unknown magical waves. Please... stop this rough-housing at once, and let's go!" He said sternly.
"However, there is one problem... The other performer has backed out at the last minute... He seemed to think that you looked a bit too big to be a performance artist. We need another skilled swordsman or..." his eyes fell on the large sword, Aeris, on Mira's back. "...swordwoman."

Kankuro is pulled away from his little scuffle with Kat but, regains his cool as soon as the official started talking to him. "Ah, yes, excuse my negligence." He said with a bow. He then smirked a bit about hearing about the other performer's excuse for not taking part in the event. "It's either that or he is intimidated that someone of my stature would show him up." Kankuro then glanced over, seeing that the official laid his eyes on Mira. "Do as you wish, I will go on ahead and prepare for it, just find someone who could keep up with me." With that being said, Kankuro headed towards the rooftop which the Battle of The Midnight Sun shall take place.
Trina comes walking out from the area where Kankuro had his scuffle with Kaz, holding up Kaz as he rubbed at his cheek. "Nya~, that was a nasty punch... I'm surprised I didn't lose any teeth from that one." Kaz bellowed, still nursing his cheek as it throbbed. "Well, it serves you right for acting like such a lunatic." Trina said, shaking her head a bit. "Anyway, it's almost about time for Kankuro's performance, let's go watch." Trina and Kaz head down the street to watch this event.
Out in a dark room, which looked like a room of an inn, there were two men sitting off in the darkness, their depictions weren't so clear except that one had long, silver hair and a matching mustache that was pretty thin. Another noticable thing of that man was that he was wearing the ensignia of the Silver Light, but his clothes were much more decorated and refined more than that of Kankuro, Kaz, and Trina's uniform. He was of a higher rank due to the marks of honor decorating his chest and under it a badge noted as "General Hakard". "Such a joyous day for Amethia... don't you say?" General Hakard said as his aged expression gazed upon the one who accompanies him. The one accompanied him was heavily concealed in the garments he wore, all that was seen was the man's hands and the bottom portion of the man's face. Upon hearing General Hakard's words, the man's mouth formed into that of a sneering grin.

Mordicus felt the arms go around his waist and he smirked. "Hey there, princess." He looked back at Persha, being careful so as to not ruin her expensive coat that he saw her wearing. "Lovely night tonight, huh? Wanna go for a stroll, ladies?" He eased his way forward, trying to take both ladies at once. Oh man, I am such a player. Score.
Meanwhile, Mira rubbed her neck, still feeling the touch of the demicat's claws. She looked over to the mercenary, who was now shaking the demicat and being attacked by a younger woman in a silvery dress. "Uh. It's okay..." She said, sure that they wouldn't hear her. Then Mira saw the arms go around Mordicus' waist. She fought down her anger and hid it really well, minus the glare of death she threw at Persha. Feh, spoiled brat.
Then her attention went to Mordicus. If the player wanted to mess around, she wanted no part of it. True, she was a flirt, but she didn't want to get into a glaring contest/fist fight over a guy (though she knew she could probably kick the girl's ass easily). Upon hearing the words of the need of a swordswoman, however, her wings perked up and she turned right around to face the man, a cocky smile on her face.
"Where do you need me? I'm ready."
Kai let out a loud sigh of annoyance. She was right by the tavern door, trying to refrain from going back upstairs. The crowd was being restless, the tavern inside was being reckless. Especially since some stupid sylph went and chugged some beverage and was acting like a fool now, causing the local men in there to throw cahoots about her. She knew if she walked back in, she'd be pulled into a maze of drunken soldiers and warriors who were too hammered to even recognize their own fingers on their hands. She looked over to her right, and noticed a Pheonite leaning against a wall, somewhat petrified of moving.
"You know," she called out to him, "if you're afraid of crowds, you shouldn't have come."
Sharkov heard a voice directed at him over the loud noises and chases and craziness going around him. He turned to see a scowling elf in a maroon cloak glaring back at him. He smiled somewhat, and replied softly. "I'm not afraid. I'm just... not used to being around so many people."

Wobbling out the door rather awkwardly, Martin walked into the darkness of the alleyway, ingredients bulging from one of his herb sacks. He smiled contently, happy about the purchase which had been dirt cheap because of the nature of the day.
"Nothing as good as a cheap deal on a Festival Day to raise a scientist's spirit."
His staff taping lightly against the stone street, Martin hummed a rather discordant version of a lullaby that he had often heard as a boy, on this day, speaking of a blessing by the Goddess' in the form of magical lunar event. Another tune soon came to his ears, louder, more beautiful and gentle then his crude humming could ever be.
Martin's pace quickened, as he tried to identify where the sound was coming from, his curiousity putting his common sense in the back seat, as he walked further and further into the increasingly dark alley, his staff supporting most of his weight.
"A sound like that could only come from something made using Rare materials. Materials that can be melted down and used for a experiment for sure, who knows, maybe with them I could discover the secret of liquid harmony!" Martin whispered excitedy to himself, his speed increasing steadily as he dodged a trashcan that was in his way.
Ilaria was standing near the pole Kaz had been dancing on several minutes earlier, sipping a cup of Hot chocolate as she looked up at the moon. She hadn't originally wanted to come to Town for the event but thought it might be more interesting to watch the Rooftop battle then to be walking on a dark plain somewhere.
Her mood had been better then usual on this day, possibly because of the excited antics of people preparing for the festival or enthusiastic calls travelling from forest to forest, Dryad to dryad, expressing excitement and awe over the holiday. She hated to admit it, but she, like the others, was also amazed by the events on this day, where power came in powerful waves and the moon shown just brightly enough to see clearly while still being dark.
There will also be quite a few good dreams to be had. She thought as she smiled mischeviously to herself, taking yet another sip of the Hot chocolate. As well as quite a few powerful illusions to be made.
