The key to creating a perfect world has always been balance. The closest we can ever get to a utopia, is a perfectly balanced world.
However, there is always something to upset that balance.
Three Goddesses, known as Muses, came to be with the sole instinct of creating a perfect world. The Muse of Melody focused on creating all the living beings, and The Muse of Harmony created the earth that they walked upon. The third Muse despised the balance that they created - The Muse of Symphony had no desire to let their world become a perfect utopia - It was boring to her! She created chaos and evil, to balance out the perfect world her sisters had created.
The World of Melodia is still young. The scales of balance are always tipping. Enter our world and help shape it, help tip the scales of balance, and find your place in the world of Melodia.

Welcome to the Online Roleplaying Community of Mistrals of Melody! This is the First Timers thread, which will basically tell you everything you need to know to start roleplaying in the world of Melodia. The Roleplays here are fantasy-based, so yes, expect swords and sorcery style roleplaying!
Since you're new, you should head over to The Introduction Thread to introduce yourself and get to know everyone.

EFORE YOU GET STARTED...~*~
Before you start Roleplaying, what are you supposed to do? This section will go through, step-by-step, what you need to do to get started.
- Step 1: Before anything else, you should click here to read the Rules & Guidelines. At the end of the Rules, there will be something you need to do to confirm that you understand the rules... Without doing this minor task, you can't RP! They're not long! Seriously!
- Step 2: Now that you've done that, (see, it wasn't so bad, was it?), You're going to want to create your character. Go to Character Creation
[/li][li] Step 3:: Follow the Character Creation Form[/u] and use the Astralpedia as a reference: Jobs, Races. You might want to check other character forms to get a better idea of how to write yours!
[/li][li] Step 4: Now that you've created your character, be sure to remember to add them to the Population and get your own Character Sig!
[/li][li] Step 5: You can now join an RP in General Roleplaying. However, before you do so, read the Roleplaying Tags[/u] so you know what you're getting into when you click on an RP!

REQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSQ: What is Roleplaying?
A: Roleplaying is, in a literal sense, playing the role of someone else. At an online message board like MoM, you create a character and write as if you were them. You do this with a group of people, and together you write a story - you always add the next part, and write what your character does or says, how they act or react to whatever just happened.
Q: What kind of setting is MoM in?
A: Melodia is a fantasy-based world that isn't very developped yet, so you can expect small villages, long distances between them, kingdoms, castles, dungeons, monsters, magic, swords, sorcery - all the basic makings of a fantasy world.
Q: What's the difference between IC and OOC?
A: IC means In Character. OOC means Out of Character. When you're IC, that means you're posting as your character, not as you. OOC means you're posting as yourself!
Q: How come my posts only go up in some places, and not in others?
A: Since your Post Count is important for getting you bonuses at MoM, we've made it so that you can only gain post counts by posting in sections that are important - like the Roleplaying section, for example. In sections where it's easy to spam and get lots of posts (like in the Board Games), we've disabled post counts so that you can't cheat and get bonuses more easily than others.
Q: What's this Karma system?
A: Other members can give or take away Karma points from you. Generally, you'll be given Karma if you're a nice, helpful member who follows rules - If you break rules or are rude or impolite to others, however, your karma will decrease. Nobody likes a troll! And yes, your Karma level can go into the negatives.
Q: This is too long! Do I have to read it all?
A: It is mandatory to read the first page of an RP, to get a good feel for it. If you don't want to read something that's over 10 pages, then you can ask anyone in the RP to summarize it for you, and hopefully someone will be nice enough to do so. However, one thing that you'll frequently hear me say is - If you don't like to read, what are you doing at a roleplaying forum?
Q: How do I put in a signature?

Q: Help! I spelt my username 'Xxxx' but it came out in all lowercase letters! What do I do?
A: This happens often, so just PM me and I'll fix your username to whatever you want it to be.
Q: I have a question that wasn't answered here! What should I do?
A: I'm an Administrator, so I'll happily take your questions - just send me a PM and I'll reply promptly!
