Yay, so this is the very first RP on Mistals of Melody. It takes place almost entirely on Amethia, and we're going to be pretty much travelling all of it. Don't expect it to be short, though! Who knows what'll happen on our way from Persys to Estherna... Introduction: ------------------------ Underground resources have informed the King of Estherna of an invasion being planned. The southern kingdom of Iistaria, a kingdom situated in the middle of the Everflow Desert, on the continent of Starsand, has formed an alliance with the Thief Fortress to invade the continent of Amethia, starting with the capital of Estherna. They've already begun to prepare for the strike and are due to land at the southern borders of the continent at any moment. The King decided to call out to all of Amethia to help resist the Iistarian army, which prompted each city to reach out for its greatest warriors and recruit them for the army. Warriors from all the cities in Amethia are travelling south to Estherna to join the war that will soon break out. The tale begins in the port city of Persys, where warriors are gathering at the local bar to sign up for this army that's being formed. The city is dimly lit with the warm orange light of the sunset and the gentle sounds of the waves by the shore can be heard through-out. Will you join and aid Amethia in its time of need? Summary as of Page 41 (January 2010)

25 year old, Illaria Mirconian stood outside one of the bars located in Persys; reading the pathetic, cry for help that the government, sent out in the form of a recruitment poster that they had stuck up on the wall.
"War against the Iistaria kingdom? Pick up arms? Pathetic, as if this war is so much more important, compared to the famine and racist problems of the people on this continent." She grumbled to herself, pulling open the door of the bar and taking in the now familiar smell of strong alcohol.
"As if the administration of this pathetic piece of land mattered. All rulers are the same after all, all monarchs greedy, selfish pigs, it won't change no matter who takes over. Things never change on this Muse forsaken planet as it is.
The bar was more well kept, in appearance then a regular tavern, with a polished wood floor, scattered restaurant tables and mahogany colored walls. Adventurers, guards and locals filled the cozy bar with chatter, which mixed along with the smell of homemade food and alcohol in the air to make a friendly atmosphere.
The actual counter bar itself, painted a mahogany red and made of wood, had several people on their stools perched in front of it, either eating their fill or swapping stories amongst their neighbours. The bartender seemed to be situated off to the side, preparing some drink or other, considering the amount of wine and other alcoholic beverages that seemed to be being poured into one mug.
She approached the bar swiftly, her cloak billowing around her despite the lack of wind, and took a seat near the corner far from the rest of the customers who seemed to refuse to glance at her. Signaling for the bartender she said in a stern voice.
"Your strongest drink, barkeep and make it quick, I want to be out of here before the sun set's do you hear me?" She starred at him, a cold look in her eyes before settling back into her chair. "I'll give you a decent size tip if you do."

Lydia was not one who was often seen at bars but the poster on the outside intrigued her. Entering she took a seat next to the dryad. Looking around skptically, she added, "Hmph... I wonder if anyone's even going to show up. The capital city is in danger and yet all I see are a bunch of drunk idiots..."

Despite the fact that bars are usually crammed with the women-deprived, the obsolete, and the perverts, the bar was now filled with strong, valiant warriors willing to sign up to aid a city in turmoil. However, if Kankuro were to be one of those brave warriors, it's hard to be seen as he sat with all the drunkards of the bar.
"H-hey... another bottle of rum, here!" Kankuro's shakily voice announces as he shouts over the loud yammering of the other drunkards around him. In front of him lied four other bottles of rum which he had drained down.
The bartender looked towards him with a concerned look and sighed. "Look, sir, I think you've had enough." The bartender told Kankuro, "Any more and yo-" The bartender let out a gasp as he felt his shirt collar constricting around his neck. He looked down and he realized Kankuro had got him by the shirt.
Kankuro stared down at the small bartender man, which he had towered over so easily with his height. "Fool, listen up! Just who in the hell do you think you are talking to? I'm not just some regular drunk, you know." Kankuro spat with an angry tone in his voice. "I am Kankuro... I've drunk much more than this and out drank many men under the table. Now, I want my bottle of rum... and if I don't get it... I'm seriously gonna hurt someone and you better hope it isn't you." Kankuro lets go of the bartender's shirt, letting the bartender rush over to grab the bottle for him.
Kankuro turned away from the bar a moment to look back at the people who sat out at the tables. He saw a few people, people who were more than likely going to be going in for the war. People of different walks of life, different agendas, different races… especially the Dryad and Winged women who sat together at a table. “Humph… risking my life for politics… no thanks.” He muttered as he turned to the bar, seeing that the bartender not only had the drink in hand, he had a note with him as well.
“You should have told me who you were earlier, Mr. Kankuro.” The bartender told him, “There is this message that someone left for you before you even got here. The person must have known about your drinking problem.” He hands the bottle and the note to Kankuro.
Kankuro looks down at the note as he is removing the cork from the bottle of rum. “Hmm… it’s from them… looks like I am being assigned to a new job.” He mutters as he pops the cork out from the bottle. He reaches back into his pocket, pulling a small knife from his pocket and slits the envelope open as he drinks his rum. He pulls out the small note from the opening and stands up from the stool he sat in, walking over to the side to have a little more privacy, taking the bottle of rum with him.
He quietly reads the note to himself. He snickers and breaks into a laugh. “Wh-what the… what is this? Are they serious?” he couldn’t help laughing “if they think I’m going to become a government lapdog, they could forget it.” He flips the letter over and he sees a p.s. message that reads in big writing “It’s not like you have a choice!!!” Kankuro laughs some as he heads over to the bulletin and looks up at the fliers. “Ha… I do have a choice… and my answer is…” he stops, noticing that his name is etched on the sign up sheet. “Wh-what the-“

Illaria looked at the winged girl wearily, not too sure what to make of her, for she was unused to people sitting even remotely near her. The words that escaped the girls mouth made her harumph in distaste before she shifting and looking back at the wall in front of her.
"So you plan on joining that pointless crusade? Why put yourself through the trouble when you'll get nothing in the end." Her throat still dry from her journey earlier that day, she coughed and tried to locate the bartender, noticing him in the clutches of a rather large warrior. "Few might join you, as you said most of the people in this poor excuse for a bar turned restaurant are hopeless drunks looking to either lose themselves or have a good time."
Smiling in amusement as the exchange ended between the Bartender and warrior, she looked back towards the winged.
"I doubt that many here would even want to save those government fools, frankly they probably deserve everything they get."

"Darn it all... why do they have to assign me to all the meaningless jobs." He mutters under his breath as he stares upon the sign in sheet with his name etched on one of the lines that are reserved for those who want to take part in the war. He pulls himself away from the sign and goes to sit down somewhere to think to himself and gather his thoughts. But, to do so, he steps outside the bar and heads over towards what looks to be a fountain in the middle of the street. He sits himself down on this fountain and sighs, staring down at the water inside the fountain, placing his hand in the water and raises his hand, watching the water slip between his fingers.
"Hmm... but, what did that one part of the letter mean? 'I may find something worth while.'?" he shrugs, stroking his chin a little as he stared down at the fountain. "I guess it would serve me well to go along with this job of mine and find out exactly what would be in my best interest. After all, all it has been is one dead end after another... I might as well check it out to see if it could bring me that much closer to HIM." His eyes went from a light tone to a deep dark stare, anger seems to be built up inside of him. His body aches for vengeance. He draws his hand over his reflection in the fountain, making the image distort and ripple from his hand's interuption. He eagerly awaits as he is called foward to join the army... for his own seperate agenda.

Lydia stared at the crackling fire in the firplace of the bar. It seemed that many people were getting excited for this war to show the Iistarians just who the true rulers of Amethia were. She, however felt very indifferent.
'I don't care much ... I'm not even from Amethia! But I suppose there isn't much to do here since I graduated. Wandering between towns aimlessly is not the best way to spend my time. I'll be more useful in war...' she greatly disliked war. She knew it meant putting her life in danger and it meant she might have o do the unthinkable - killing someone. But out of sheer boredom she signed her name onto the list.
'This will be interesting...' she sighed.

Theo happily walked into the Tavern, swinging the door open as hard as she could. "ALOOOOOOOHA DRINKING FRIENDS!" she yelled over the talking, screaming and drunken brawls. "Now who would be nice enough to treat me to a lovely drink from your fine establishment?" A permanent smile was plastered on her face, one of a young child without a care in the world as she sauntered inside, ignoring the several eyes that had turned to her noisy arrival (or possibly she was oblivious to?).
She raised an eyebrow over at one of the tables, where a Dryad and a Winged were seated. "Well you ladies look awfully nice!" she grinned. "A scowling Dryad and a pretty Birdie Lady! Does one of you have enough to spare little ol' me a small drink? I'm over the drinking age, I promise!" she insisted, her young voice only a few tones away from what one could call a "puppy's whimper".
"Ooo, ooo, ooo" she added, "Why didja go an' sign your name on the paper, Birdie Lady? Is it a party list? Can I be invited? Oooo....I like parties."

Lydia couldn't help herself. She cringed at the noisy entrance made by the Neptunian.
"I am no Birdie lady..." she muttered, not really caring though - she was made fun of a lot in school, and her older brother always told her not to let it get to her. Why oh WHY did they choose to meet at a bar?! Weren't there town halls for this kind of thing? It was ridiculous!
"It's not a party - didn't anyone ever teach you to read?" she jabbed a finger at the neatly written title.

Theo cocked her to the side, confused. The pretty lady in front of her had wings didn't she? Oh! Maybe she was a hawk lady! The young Neptunite nodded her head to herself, thinking that this must be the answer.
"Aw c'mon Hawk Lady, gimme some credit. Of course I know how to read," Theo smiled. "I just didn't read the sign yet...and was hoping for something more fun than a stupid call to arms."
Theo put her hands on her hips and sauntered over to the sign up sheet. She squinted at the writing, her forehead almost touching the paper. "Blah Iistaria, something about a Thief place, blah blah blah, Estherna....hmmmm Blah blah....oh? Persys? Is that where I am? Huh....Will I join, blah. Well this was fascinating."
She reached out with her slender, six-fingered hand to grab the pen tha was dangling on the string, and scribbled her name as best as she could, onto the sign up sheet. Afterwards, Theo turned around and struttedback to the table where her new "friends" were sitting.
"Heehee. This should be exciting," Theo said with her eyes closed, her expression akin to one of a very content cat. "I haven't had the chance to Dance for stuff like this in a while!"

He relaxed outside the bar still, sitting at the fountain which continues to sprinkle water in an artful fashion. Kankuro let out a deep sigh and closed his eyes, seeing that the area was all to himself. At least, he thought the whole area was empty when a dagger was felt held at his neck.
"Hey... we know that mercenary's like you are loaded. There are too many of us and one of you so, don't try anything- GAHHHH!"
How careless of him, he thought to himself. Being in the big city he was in, he should of known there was a possibility that he was gonna be mugged by some petty thugs who run the street. "They can surely try he thought as he swiftly grabbed the voice's wrist and twisted it in an ackward position, hearing the sound of steel hitting the stone floor. He slowly opened his eyes, staring at the man who he had applied his hold on, a stare that isn't one of anger... but, one which with one glance... you could tell he's bound to kill someone one way or another.
"Not now..." Kankuro said with a cold demeanor in his voice. "I'm resting..." Instead of letting go, he twisted farther, hearing the sound of bones cracking within the man's wrist.
"YAAAARGH!!!" the man yelps in pain as he falls backward, trying to make distance from the one who had broken his wrist. "Y- you... son of a... kill him! I want his head!" the man barks to his men as they obediently circled around Kankuro.
"Heh heh heh.... you surely dug yourself a grave now, buddy. No one messes with the Persys-"
"I don't care who you guys are... or where you are from..." Kankuro interupts once again, standing up from the fountain and makes his way into the center of the circle of bandits. "Regardless of how they colonize or where they inhabit... rats are rats..." He reaches his hand over to the hilt of his blade to the left side of him, drawing it from its sheath. "And rats have no place in this life..."
"Why, you... DIE!!" The bandit yelled in fury as all the bandits closed in with Kankuro. As the men gather to the center, swift sword strokes could be heard inside the grouping, too swift for a mere dagger to move. All the bandits stop in their place, as if frozen in time. And they all fall as the first bandit yelps in agony... his chest nearly erupting from the slash wounds he had received. The leader watches in horror and turns his back to his men, fleeing in fear.
As the men dropped to the floor, Kankuro emerges, unscratched. He stops and looks back "Be appreciative... I decided to let all of you live. Pay for your crimes and pray for forgiveness." He then turns back, making his way into the tavern where he goes to find him an empty table.

Jaynus sat from behind the counter and smiled at the ... colorful... crowd.
"Jaynus, this is insane! All these warriors packed in here like this... there's bound to be a barfight o-or something sooner or later!" exclaimed the nervous bartender, still shaky after his encounter with the warrior, Kankuro. He turned around and flinched as he saw said warrior reenter the tavern.
"Relaaax, Chaz. Business is business." Jay replied. "Let them party. Who knows what Amethia would become like if Iistaria took over! Every city would overflow with criminals and murderers."
He yawned and looked at his watch. It was going to be a long night with all this commotion. Glancing at the list tacked to the bulletin board, then at the crowd of hearty warriors, for a moment, Jaynus felt intrigued by the thrill that war seemed to bring. It hadn't been the first time that night.

"A dancer?" she had to stop herself from laughing at the Neptunian. "I highly doubt yo'll be very useful, dear. And if it will keep you from calling me names like Birdie-lady and Hawk-lady, my name is Lydia. So please refer to me as Lydia, and not some silly name."
Though she was surprised at how non-chalently the girl had signed her name onto the list. She didn't even give it a second thought and just freely signed her name. Lydia had to admit that she was a bit jealous of the girl's care-free attitude. Just a bit.
"So, what's your name? Or should I just call you Annoying-Fishy-Lady?"

Kankuro leans forward, resting his arms on the table while resting his chin against his arms. He carefully glanced among the ones who look to be fighters... so-called fighters more like it. Truth is, he sees nothing too promising in his eyes as he stares at what could be farmers or sheperds... or city girls. "Hmph... maybe they should of put up a skill requirement... no matter." he mutters to himself as he places his hood over his head. "This is gonna be a drag..."

Aura was not happy, simply because there was waaaay too much business going on. Don't take that the wrong way; she was happy to see that the tavern was making a pretty penny, but this was just taking it TOO far. She swore under her breath as some drunken oaf of an idiot knocked over a pint of beer, that was just going to mean more work for her later. She sank to the floor, pouting, to pick up the bottle, and then snatched the man's boot buckle on the way up to retaliate...it was shiny.
"Jaynus!" She practically yelled, as she was finally free from the crowd, it had taken a lot of pushing and elbowing. She marched over to the bar with as much dignity as she could muster (not very much, considering she was sweaty with an unattractive flush across her pale cheeks) and slammed down the many bottles she was holding. She glowered, as her little hands became little, yet deadly looking fists, and then she stomped the ground a couple times for good measure.
"You! This is all your fault! Fine, I'll admit it, I shouldn't have taken advantage of you in a drunken state and dared you to dye your hair blonde! FINE! I'm a good person, I have feelings too. But this! Inviting all these...brutes to come to an establishment with *ladies*?" She tossed her long, auburn hair over one shoulder, her many rings clicking and glittering. "I swear, if one more person attempts to pinch my bum, jab me with their elbow, exchange sex for free drinks or even BREATHE on me wrong...so help me Lurline I will rob them of everything but their boot buckles!" She threw down the one she had stolen on the bar and waited for a few seconds while her breathing became even again. She watched the dim lights glint off the buckle and then she grabbed it up once again, holding it close to her chest. She cast a suspicious look at Jay.
"Scratch that, I'll keep Mr Buckle and then make him an army of buckle friends. Let's just say that I'll make *everyone's* lives miserable if conditions in here don't improve...capiche?" She grinned, shoving Mr Buckle into one of her many pockets with a comforting pat.
